Visit Tulum and discover the whale shark

The whale shark is a slow-moving filter feeding shark and the largest known extant fish species.

It has a huge mouth which can be up to 4 feet (1.4 m) wide, its mouth is at the very front of its head (not on the underside of the head like in most sharks), It has a wide, flat head, a rounded snout, small eyes, 5 very large gill slits, 2 dorsal fins (on its back) and 2 pectoral fins (on its sides). 

The spiracle (a vestigial first gill slit used for breathing when the shark is resting on the sea floor) is located just behind the shark's eye. Its tail has a top fin much larger than the lower fin. The whale shark has distinctive light-yellow markings (random stripes and dots) on its very thick dark gray skin. Its skin is up to 4 inches (10 cm) thick. 

There are three prominent ridges running along each side of the shark's body. This enormous shark is a filter feeder and sieves enormous amounts of plankton to eat through its gills as it swims.

The Tulum beach is to the south of the ruins on the Caribbean coast and home to the cute cabanas, beach clubs and bohemian restaurants that Tulum raves about. It is the cool part of town and sought after by many as the beach is pristine and uncrowded.

Tulum is a thriving and active contemporary Mayan community that co-exists with an increasing international population. This sense of community is felt by those who visit. The main street on the highway leading into the pueblo is an active area, but the side streets have little gems and jewels that should not be missed.

The exploration of Dos Ojos began in 1986 and it has never stopped since that year. Dos Ojos has remains in the top of the 10 longest underwater cave systems in the world, it contains the deepest known cave passage in Quintana Roo, it has 118 meters/ 396 feet of depth located at The Cenote Pit.

"Dos Ojos" stands for "Two Eyes" and it refers to two neighboring cenotes which connect into a very large cavern zone shared between them. These cenotes appeared like two large eyes into the underground, some of the underwater cave were featured in an IMAX Film in 2002, "Journey Into Amazing Caves", it also appeared at the Hollywood movie "The Cave"(yeah we know this movie really sucked).

Personalidades recibirán el 2015 en el Festival Bandido Tulum

Artistas de la talla de Nicolas Jaar, RAC, Prins Thomas, Meketrefe, Slktr, Clubz y Pinto participarán en el próximo Festival Bandido Tulum New Year´s Eve.  
Los amantes de la música electrónica no solo disfrutarán de las propuestas musicales de los DJ de alcance mundial, sino también de los escenarios naturales de la Riviera Maya.
En el cartel del festival figura Andre Allen Anjos, mejor conocido como RAC, cuya ascendente carrera musical lo ha llevado a trabajar y mezclar temas de gente como Lana del Rey, Foster The People, Two Dor Cinema Club, Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, entre otros.

Celebrando el día de muertos: Xibalbá 2014

Con la finalidad de mantener viva la tradición del Día de Muertos, en coordinación con la iniciativa privada, llevarán a cabo el “Festival del Xibalbá 2014”, con el cierre de las calles laterales de la Avenida Tulum, en la zona turística, donde se realizará exposiciones de altares, muestras artesanales y gastronómicas, este  La inauguración de este magno evento será el viernes 31 de octubre a las siete de la noche, así lo dio a conocer el comité organizador, encabezado por el presidente municipal, David Balam Chan.

Para la primera edición del “Xibalbá”, se dispondrá de siete escenarios distribuidos en las calles laterales de la Avenida Tulum, con la presentación de danzas prehispánicas, performance con Catrinas, música en vivo, exposiciones de artes plásticas y artesanales, así como la exposición de más de 70 altares en cuya elaboración participan los hoteleros, restauranteros, artesanos, comerciantes y prestadores de servicios turísticos en general, así como dependencias de gobierno, sindicatos y diversas asociaciones que se han estado sumando.

Fashion Tulum 2014

CANCÚN, Q. Roo.- En esta segunda edición del evento denominado "Fashion Tulum 2014", fiesta de alta costura y diseño con pasarelas de primer nivel internacional, avanza en sus preparativos y en este año ha de efectuarse con la participación de artistas y diseñadores reconocidos en todo el mundo.

El presidente de la Asociación de Hoteles de Tulum y organizador del evento Roberto Palazuelos, anunció que la modelo rusa Darya Savishkina será la imagen para esta edición 2014. Por ahora existe una embajadora del evento que promueve incluso en Nueva York el festival de diseño y alta costura, cuya carta fuerte será la presentación de la actual colección de Manuel Albarrán.

“Bueno, quien no conozca quien es Manuel Albarrán hay que decirles que él es quien hace la ropa de Lady Gaga y de Madonna, así que su presencia es una de las más célebres en el mundo de la alta moda y además de su pasarela vamos a tener una extensa exposición de sus obras”, detalló Roberto Palazuelos.

El “Fashion Tulum 2014″ que inicia el próximo 4 y culmina el 7 de diciembre, también tendrá otra pasarela de gala nocturna pero ella será en el Hotel Ahau y en la misma se llevará a cabo el concierto del mexicano Cristian Castro.
